Due to the individualization of society many changes and developments in the healthcare industry in the Netherlands are happening. Hospitals attempt to reduce the patients’ hospital stay to a minimum, often resulting in sending patients home while they are still in need of nursery. One of the current solutions hospitals are implementing are Care-Hotel concepts. Care-Hotels focus on people who are fired by the Hospital but are not (jet) able to take care of themselves by providing housing and day to day care in a Hotel based manner.
We are exploring the difficulties and challenges this implies for the Hospitals’ Facility Managers and we are investigating which solutions they have applied in solving the patients’ problems. With the results of our investigation we will increase the insight in how Facility Managers can successfully manage the current changes in the healthcare industry. Best practices will be used to illustrate practical implications of this issue.
